Process a meal sign-up at the front desk

Meal time gets busy, and someone often walks up without having signed up ahead. NestPoint's serve screen is built for exactly that moment: you can add a walk-in and count them as served in a single pass, then handle any donation after the line clears.

Add the walk-in

Open Meals and go to the serve screen for today's meal. Choose Walk-in, then find the person: search for them under Match member if they're in your system, or type a name under Unmatched name if they're new and you'll sort out their record later.

Set Dine in or Take out, and if they've brought others, enter how many under Party (unnamed guests) so the plate count is right. Choose Add walk-in and you're done — a walk-in is added and counted as Served in the same step, so there's no separate check-in to remember.

Take the donation

Meal contributions are a separate, optional step — adding a walk-in doesn't ask for money, which keeps the line moving. When you're ready, open the person's sign-up and choose Take a payment to record what they gave as Paid, or mark it Comped when a meal is covered. For a suggested-donation program, this is where the day's contributions get logged, so the totals hold up in your reports.

If the meal is full or eligibility flags

When a sitting is at capacity, a walk-in lands as Waitlisted rather than served, and moves up if a seat frees. If a program has rules — an age minimum, a membership requirement — NestPoint will tell you when someone doesn't meet them. A manager can enter an override reason to seat them anyway, and that note is saved for the record.
