Volunteer hours, clear from shift to report.

Record shifts, check-in and check-out times, approvals, and program categories, then use the same information when your board or funder asks for a summary.

What it helps with

What your team can do here.

Shifts & check-in/out

Record the start and end of each shift.

Volunteers can use a badge, kiosk, or portal flow to record service. Duration, breaks, and retroactive entries follow the policy your organization configures.

  • Check-in/out via badge or kiosk
  • Retroactive logging from the portal
  • Per-program break and partial-shift rules

Manager approval

Review submitted hours in one place.

Assign the appropriate reviewer and use available filters to approve routine entries or look more closely at an exception before it counts toward reporting.

  • Bulk approval by week or program
  • Supported approval rules
  • Per-role manager assignments

Estimated volunteer value

Estimate volunteer value using a rate you approve.

If your organization reports an estimated value of service, enter the applicable approved rate and category. NestPoint can apply that configured value to recorded hours for internal review and export.

  • Organization-approved rates
  • Supported value categories by program
  • Hours and estimated value shown separately

Funder reports

Use one service record in different reports.

Filter approved hours by date, program, role, or other fields, then export the totals needed for a board update or funder worksheet.

  • Reusable report configurations
  • Supported PDF and CSV exports
  • Clear separation of recorded and estimated values

A typical workflow

She worked the desk Thursday. It counted.

Record service as it happens, review it according to your policy, and use the approved history when reporting is due.

  1. Create the shift or role. Define the program, volunteer role, schedule, and person responsible for reviewing the hours.

  2. Record the service. The volunteer checks in and out or submits an eligible entry through the portal.

  3. Review the entry. An authorized manager checks the recorded duration, category, and any note before approving it.

  4. Build the reporting view. Filter approved hours for the required date range, programs, roles, and member information.

  5. Export or recognize the work. Use the approved totals in a funder worksheet, board update, volunteer statement, or recognition list.

Common questions

What teams ask before getting started.

The volunteer log, without the volunteer log.
