Common questions
Quick answers to the things people ask most about this part of NestPoint.
Why don't my logged hours show up in the totals?
Reports count only Approved hours. New entries sit on the Hours page as Needs approval until someone reviews them. Once approved, they roll into the summaries on their own.
Where do hour entries come from?
Three places: you type them in with Log hours or Batch entry; someone is checked in and then checked out; or you mark a person Attended on a shift roster. Attendance in Activities, Meals, or Trips never creates one on its own.
What does the “Counts as volunteer time” setting on a role do?
When it's on for a role, that role's hours are included in your volunteer totals. It's how you keep genuine volunteer service separate from paid or staff time in the same system.
How do I pull a total of volunteer hours?
Open the Reporting module and run the Volunteer hours summary. It totals approved hours from roles that count as volunteer time, over the date range you set.
Can someone approve their own hours?
By default, no. The person who logged an entry cannot be the one who approves it. Admins who can change Service Hours settings are the exception. To drop the rule, turn off Second person must approve under Settings, Approvals.
