Build a menu
A menu is the list of food a meal serves. You build it once, then attach it to any meal — a one-time lunch or a repeating weekly meal. Menus carry dietary tags, so the kitchen sheet and allergen alerts fill in on their own.
Open Menus and start a new one
From the module nav, open Menus, then press New menu.
Give it a Name you'll recognize later, like a weekday and meal. Add a Description and a Meal type if you'd like — both are optional.
Press Create menu.
The drawer stays open and switches to edit mode so you can add items right away, without a second trip.
Add fixed items and choices
Under Items, press Add item. Every item is one of two kinds, set with the Type toggle:
- Fixed item
- Always included with the meal — a roll, a side, a dessert. Everyone gets it.
- Choice
- Members pick one option from a set, like an entrée. You add the options underneath.
Type a Label, pick the Type, and press Add item.
Open the item to add a Description and, for a fixed item, its Dietary tags — grouped under Preferences, Restrictions, and Allergens. Press Save item.
Allergen tags are what drive the sticky allergen banner on the day of the meal, so tag them carefully.
For a choice, press Add option for each pick. Give each a Name, its own dietary tags, and mark one as the Default choice.
The default is what a member gets if they don't choose one before the meal is finalized for the kitchen. Add at least one option and a default before you finalize a meal that uses this menu.
Reorder items
Drag an item by its handle to reorder, or use the up and down arrows. The order here is the order the kitchen and members see.
