Create a repeating meal

When the same meal happens every week, you don't schedule each one by hand. A repeating meal holds the pattern, the days and times and policies, and puts the individual meals on the calendar ahead of time.

Start from the Calendar

  1. Open Calendar and press Create meal.

  2. You're asked whether this is a one-time meal or a series that repeats. Choose Repeating meal.

Describe the meal

The New repeating meal drawer gathers everything the generated meals will inherit. Give it a name, meal type, and color so it's easy to spot on the calendar.

Signup policy
Whether members sign up ahead, walk in, or both. This sets the default for every meal in the series.
Guest policy
Whether members can bring guests, and whether guest names are required.
Signup deadline
How many hours before the meal signups close, so the kitchen gets a firm count.
Default menu
A reminder of which menu this series usually serves. It isn't applied for you, so you still attach the menu to each date.
Default kitchen roles
The roles used when kitchen shifts spawn for the meal, if you have that turned on.

Set the recurrence and eligibility

  1. Choose the days it repeats and the seating template, then set any eligibility rules that limit who can sign up.

Eligibility rules are optional. Without them, the meal is open to anyone your signup policy allows.

  2. Save the repeating meal.

It appears in the Repeating view of the Calendar, and upcoming dates start filling in on the calendar.

Manage the series over time

Switch the Calendar to Repeating to see every repeating meal with its status. Each row's actions let you keep it current:

Add upcoming dates
Puts more meals on the calendar if the series has run short.
Pause
Stops generating future meals without deleting the series. Existing meals stay put.
Resume
Starts a paused series generating again.
