Set up your front-desk station
A front-desk station is one computer or tablet parked at the counter, running the Front Desk page all day. This gets you oriented so the first check-in goes smoothly.
Open the Front Desk page
Sign in and go to Front Desk from the main navigation.
Leave this page up for the whole shift.
It's built to stay open. The scan bar keeps itself in focus, so the station is always ready for the next person.
Know your way around
Four areas do most of the work:
- Scan bar
- Across the top. Scan or type here to check people in — see Check in a member.
- Side panel
- Tabs for the day's Activity feed, Here now, Groups, and Frequent members.
- Today's activities
- The classes and programs running today, with live head counts.
- Notes
- Reminders for yourself and the desk — see Read and post shift notes.
Set up the scanner
Plug the scanner in and scan one test badge. If the code lands in the scan bar and checks someone in without you clicking first, you're set. The bar re-focuses itself after each scan so you can run a whole line of people back to back.
Decide what else the desk needs
Two options depend on how you run the desk. Turn on check-out if you want to track when people leave — see Check members out and see who's here. Set up kiosk mode if members will check themselves in — see Launch the self check-in kiosk.
